Why diamond plate aluminum instead of painted steel?
Have you ever seen a painted steel box after a year's hard use? Every scratch turns into a rust stripe, and you'll eventually find yourself sanding, priming, and painting. If maintenance is what you want, buy steel. Some argue that "steel is stronger than aluminum." Sure it is...if you're building a bridge! Aluminum diamond plate is a thick, rugged and durable material, preferred by professionals everywhere. How resistant to damage is thin, painted steel sheet metal?

Some department store boxes may seem very attractive at first, but if you look more carefully you'll see the difference. Our full lid crossover boxes for example, have a lid design that offers more than meets the eye.

Full Lid Cross Section

This lid has three separate stiffeners for enduring strength, with a layer of rigid foam insulation. The full inner lid stiffener completely covers the inside of the lid with a smooth clean look while adding strength. Take that! You flimsy department store junk! Besides the spectacular sandwich lid design of full lid boxes, our crossover boxes offer a multipurpose tool holder, not just a screwdriver rack like most others. It has a variety of hole sizes to accommodate various tools, and it's welded, not just riveted, for years of service. Our standard crossover boxes have a large, durable plastic injection molded tray (approximately 19"x17") with 5 separate compartments for smaller items.
This tray, (which you'll use all the time), is 3" deep - almost twice the depth of most others. Additional trays are available.

All of our boxes come with the hinges and other parts welded, not just riveted, adding strength, durability, and a cleaner appearance. Rivets (alone) are used only on lock assemblies so in the rare case of a lock failure, it can be removed for easy replacement. All replacement parts are always in stock.

Gas shocks create a smooth, self-opening lid on nearly every type of box that we sell.
